David Fernando Moreno Hernandez, Juan Pablo Orjuela-Saavedra, and Ivan Stewar Ramirez-Villalobos, all Colombian nationals based in Newark and East Orange, are accused of breaking into homes in Muttontown and Old Westbury over several months, detectives said in a release on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.
The trio allegedly shattered rear windows and glass doors to enter unoccupied homes under cover of night, stealing designer handbags, safes, and wads of cash, police said.
After a two-and-a-half-month surveillance operation across the tri-state area, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and local police tracked the suspects down.
US Marshals Raid In New Jersey
On Friday, Feb. 14, Nassau County Major Case detectives, the Electronics Squad, and the NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force descended on Newark and East Orange to capture the accused burglars.
- Hernandez, 26, of Newark, and Ramirez-Villalobos, 25, also of Newark, were caught in Newark.
- Orjuela-Saavedra, 23, of East Orange, was tracked down while driving on Hamilton Street near North Walnut Street.
Hernandez and Orjuela-Saavedra were extradited to Nassau County on Feb. 27, but Ramirez-Villalobos remains in custody in New Jersey for a 2023 burglary in Livingston, authorities said.
The trio faces multiple second-degree burglary charges, police said.
